Sora Farm Newsletter-Vol. 32

Today, May 5th, is Children’s day in Japan. It is the day to celebrate children’s growth and wish their success. Carp shaped streamers are often displayed as carps are symbol of strength. It is a national holiday.

In Japan, Sept.15 is Respect-for-the-Aged day, which is also a national holiday. It is a day for grandmothers and grandfathers.

Mother’s day is the 2nd Sunday of May and father’s day is the 3rd Sunday of June in Japan, which is the same as in Canada. These days are already Sundays and not extra holidays… I kind of feel it is not fair…

Our growing season finally started. We had komatsuna for last Saturday market and hopefully we can bring some every week from now on.

Because we like to grow and provide unique vegetables, we created a recipe page in our website. Here is the link. There are only a few recipes at this moment but we will keep adding. Please feel free to use them and let us know how you like it.

Rice we sowed on Mar.23 have grown well and we transplanted on Sunday. They look very fragile in the bed we newly prepared for them (still a lot of rocks but we did our best to take out big ones…). We will give them love and attention and see how it goes.

As usual, we will be at AGI market this Saturday from 10am to 1pm. We will bring komatsuna, lettuce, radish, and more. For pre-order of our sourdough bread and koji bread, please click below and fill in the form, or send us an email to sorafarmveggie@gmail.com.

Have a wonderful week!
