Sora Farm Newsletter-Vol. 34

When Kenji started to bake sourdough bread, he took a sample loaf to an experienced baker and asked for advice. The baker said, “Use good quality ingredients. Flavor of bread comes from ingredients”.

Kenji took the advice seriously. Currently, we buy all our flour for bread from True Grain in Cowichan Bay. (Luckily, Nature Spirit does pickup for us so we don’t have to go there.) They use BC grown organic grains and stone-mill them in small batches, which helps keep their flour fresh and with more nutrients and flavor due to lower- temperature process. Other ingredients we use such as walnuts, sunflower seeds, raisins, dates and sesame seeds are also organic. With organic, we avoid unwanted chemicals, and simply, they taste better!

One of our target for this season is to open farm stand. The stand is not ready yet and varieties of veggies we can offer are not quite enough yet. For now, we are opening our farm on Wednesdays for pre-order pickup. Please send us an order through email sorafarmveggie@gmail.com by the end of Tuesday and we will pick them on Wednesday morning. Nothing is better than freshly picked veggies as ingredients for your lunch or dinner.

This Wednesday, we have lettuce, spinach, cilantro, komatsuna, radish, arugula and chard.

We have added a recipe of easy pickled radishes. Link here.

As usual, we are at AGI market on Saturday at 10am – 2pm. For pre-order of our sourdough bread and koji bread, please click below and fill in the form, or send us an email to sorafarmveggie@gmail.com.

Have a wonderful week!
