We cleaned up komatsuna in our green house and planted tomatoes and cucumbers. We are ready for summer! And we haven’t finished with komatsuna. They are outside, growing.

Sunday is our day off (well, kind of) and we often harvest for ourselves. Last Sunday we harvested purslane and cooked for dinner. Purslane is considered “weed” but it is rich in omega-3 and vitamins and minerals, and tastes very nice. It can be eaten raw or cooked. We sauteed lightly in butter, with garlic scapes and snap peas, sprinkled with sunflower seeds and seasoned with soy sauce. Is anyone interested in pick-your-own purslane?

Nasturtiums are in bloom now. We might be able to throw one or two flowers in salad mix for Wednesday.

Our farm gate sale is at 10am-1pm every Wednesday. This week, we have salad mix, komatsuna, mizuna, chard, 4 kinds of lettuce (see photos), kale, collard, snap peas, turnip, dill and cilantro.
