Sora Farm Newsletter-Vol. 58

November 3rd is “Culture Day” in Japan. It is a national holiday to love freedom and peace and to promote culture. The “love of freedom and peace” is declared in the Constitution of Japan, which was promulgated on November 3rd, 1946. To commemorate this event, this date was designated as Culture Day. Many museums offer free admission and schools hold cultural festivals on or around November 3rd.

We held a miso making workshop on Sunday, Nov. 2 and had a lovely peaceful day.

We cleared our greenhouse and took all the green tomatoes inside a few weeks ago, and had been waiting for them to ripe… and started to get impatient… then one of our friends in Toronto sent us a recipe of “green tomato marmalade”. We were not sure about the combination of “green tomato” and “marmalade”, but happy to try so that we can get rid of some of the green tomatoes”. The result was surprisingly delicious. It goes well with our whole grain spelt bread! Click here for the recipe.
