Sora Farm Newsletter – Vol. 13

Christmas is just around the corner and we are having almost 10 °C this week. In Toronto, where our daughter and her dog (her baby?) is, it has been -18 °C for these few days.

There is no market on Wednesday, Dec. 25. We wish all of you very merry Christmas.

This fall and winter has been very challenging for us to continue growing vegetables. Of course, we are still on steep learning curb in veggie farming, but also due to very wet and dark weather. Many of our lettuces suffered from sort of disease and wilted away, even though they have not so far experienced hard frost. We just need to move on and finished ordering seeds for next season, with more varieties and an aim to produce even more flavourful salad mix. We also switched our gear to more bread offering, with new products such as muffins, fruits&nuts, Koji bread and vegetables bread. We create our bread as daily staple food, rather than treats. Even our muffins are well fermented (we do NOT use baking powder or commercial yeast, dough is fermented with sourdough starter) and we do not add refined sugar, except for those in dark chocolate chips in it. You and we can eat our bread daily and it will sustain our health!!

So, in order to keep us well-fed with nutritious and flavourful bread, we will be at the market at 10am – noon (not 1pm!) on Saturday, Dec. 28. From this week until end of January, we are allowed to have market outside only. In order to deal with the weather (or at least we try…), we bought a little heater. We also decided to shorten time to noon. Thank you for your understanding and please come early!

We will bring spelt and rye sourdough bread (see our sourdough bread page), farmer’s muffins, koji bread to the market this Saturday.

Thank you for your continuing support!

  1. Hello;

    We love your Koji bread, and have been having them for lunch, along with a green juice.

    There is only 1 problem; there are 2 of us and only 3 koi bread per package.

    😀

    Would I be able to special order a bag of 4 Koji (cheese n parsley) and 4 Koji (Walnut)? I will come this Saturday the 28th before noon.

    Just let me know, thank you, Christi
