Sora Farm Newsletter-Vol. 52

We have been writing a newsletter every single week and this is Volume 52, which means we have achieved one-year mark! Thank you very much for reading and giving us encouraging feedback. If we can make you smile a little on Monday mornings, it will make our day, too.

One more thing to celebrate. Today, September 22nd, is Kenji’s birthday. Thanks to his goal-oriented hard working trait of Virgo, our farm is where it is now.

Cooler weather has arrived and our komatsuna started to grow well again. They are mild mustard and can be eaten raw in salad, steamed, stir-fried, or added in soup. Very nutritious and versatile. We even froze some today for easy access. Just take out a bag and throw them into soup when we need. If you are interested in purchasing frozen komatsuna, please contact us at sorafarmveggie@gmail.com.

To freeze them yourself, wash them and cut into 3-4cm pieces. Pat them dry. Put them in Ziplock bags. (1/2 bundle per medium size bag).

For our farm gate sale this Wednesday, we have salad mix(6), Romaine lettuce(4), green leaf lettuce(4), komatsuna(4), radicchio(5), parsley(4), shishito peppers(5), cherry tomatoes(5), heirloom tomatoes(5), zucchini(3), kale(4), collard(4), chard(4), eggplants(4)(Prices are in bracket). Please place an order by the end of Tuesday through sorafarmveggie@gmail.com, or just drop by and let us pick what you would like. Hours are 10am-1pm, address is 1820 Seymour road, Gabriola Island.

You can also place an order and pick it up at the Wednesday market, which runs at 4pm – 6pm at AGI hall. We will also have wholegrain spelt sourdough bread for Wednesday market.

Our market schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesdays 4pm – 6pm
